Schindewolf Intermediate Awarded $10,600 Grant for Promise2Purpose Pup

Schindewolf Intermediate Awarded $10,600 Grant for Promise2Purpose Pup

KLEIN, TEXAS – Schindewolf Intermediate received a Klein ISD Education Foundation (KEF) grant to use an educational enrichment dog to enhance literacy skills and cultivate leadership qualities among students.

Schindewolf will use the $10,600 grant, sponsored by Stantec, to provide a Promise2Purpose Pup that aids 6th-8th graders with reading anxiety and supports Teen Leadership for leadership growth.

The project will challenge students to overcome their reading anxiety and engage with progressively larger reading passages, supported by the calming presence of the Promise2PurposePup. Students will be supported and encouraged by a Promise2PurposePup during targeted literacy support sessions twice a week, focussing on improving reading stamina, building reading confidence, and reducing reading anxiety.

“Who wouldn’t want to read if they have the opportunity to be engaged with a therapy dog? Throughout the educational community, therapy dogs are bringing value to kids needing just a bit more encouragement,” Klein ISD Education Foundation President Bill Lakin said. “Kudos to Schindewolf Intermediate School for finding a way to further engage their students, increasing their academic skills and leadership.”

This spring, the KEF Celebration Express distributed grants totaling $97,611. These grants will enrich the educational experiences of our students, supporting various innovative and engaging projects.

We sincerely thank all our grant sponsors who have made these initiatives possible. Your support plays a pivotal role in enhancing the educational journey of every Klein ISD student.

The Klein ISD Education Foundation accepts grant applications twice a year, encouraging, facilitating, and acknowledging creative projects that drive academic success for our Klein ISD students.
